We
are at the very beginning stages of the initiative to create the Elementary School for Sustainable Design. There is a great
deal of interest (if preliminary) from a major Philadelphia University,
Professional Partnerships from the global "Green" community, from a major IT corporation, and a core
group of world class educators/practitioners of hands on, Project-Based
Service Learning.
Our plan is to create a laboratory school where ALL students learn at the highest academic and real world levels, that will function as a best practices laboratory for educators, disseminated in association with the University beyond the immediate faculty, that will create a core leadership for the great issue of the 21st century (sustainability), and where the school itself functions as a three dimensional textbook of sustainable green, high performance design for students, teachers, and the community.
